Is everyone doing fine?

It's been a long long time for us to update this blog.. Tzm still got heart to give a little post in Jan. Lolx..

Time flies very fast, most of us already left ANL. It's really very enjoyable days with everyone out there. I missed all the fun I had in ANL. We can performed the most crappy things and the lamest things during working hours in ANL. Nowsaday, I only faced my double screen pc infront of me at work, I dont look forward to come to work as I was in ANL.

Tzm: ya, i think only left very few of us still in ANL.. i think ANL should give Eka a long service award!~ lolx..

I think its had been a long long time for everyone gather.. I tot we could probably meet up on last year xmas at gentle giant place but he last min cancel it. Lolx... * Yes, Mr Felix I am putting the blame on you!*

When will we be meeting up again ya?

Ah, the last post was from Mahathir in December. It's been awhile since I talked to him. Hopefully all goes well in his life, and you too my dear colleagues and ex-colleagues ... and hopefully a good love coming your way (if you still don't have any). Amen! Was it last month the brokenhearted season? So I am hoping a good love, not just any kind of love for you.

Anyways, not having a good day today. Bound to happen I suppose. Life cannot be all smooth sailing, ya? Wait! When have my life in ANL been smooth? Actually it was rather okay the past few weeks then today just have to happen. God!!! :'(

Was it my fault? Does it matter whose fault it is? My head tend to work in a "it's a problem or if you want to be optimist a situation and then find a solution to fix it" kinda way, but I just can't wrap my head around this one.

Okay, that's all, just wanna rant anl related something. It's a tough one for me currently ... God, I want to cry and yet I couldn't let it out :'(

Well what a pity this blog is dead for sometime.

Anyhoo, 2007 has been a blast for me. Glad all the things happened did happened this year...except for one minor thing. But acceptance is part of life. And i accept it with much honour and gratitude for what was left behind was a legacy and wonderful touch to the heart.

Not all resolutions met...for once haven't lose weight to expectations...haha. Well 2008 will be another blast on that for sure. One thing certain tho, long-awaited dream come true, well not exactly working in pixar or dreamworks, but turned CG artist after dreaming of it for 7 years. Remembered telling Paul long long time ago while running around the nyp track on a usual after school run, to have animation as a career. And i'm glad i held that promise to myself.

Guess luck and destiny played an important role in that as well. And the journey getting there was tough and clueless, but glad i was part of the ANL family, cos this was where i met people who really make my decisions and gusto happened. Not to mentioned, friendship and family'ness built and treasured.

One thing Astley left a meaningful lesson for me, is that wherever you are, no matter if you feel stuck, sucky, contented, or blessed, sometimes just dun see all that is happening on the surface, look around and see what u have. Even in the cloudiest of days, there's a warm breeze somewhere. All those nights spent doing things in the morning hour in the office and eating pizza getting fat (tho, in only affected me and not him, Lol), never fail to complain about things, yet we always laugh at somethings. And we kept doing it for time and time again cos it felt good. Guess the lesson was, no matter where you are or what you do, always look on the bright side and treasure that. Cos only when we look up, there's always hope for a better day.

Well my wish for 2008, is to build on what i have. Increase maximum competency in my career and expand job capability and skills. Spend more normal hours at work, increase fun time with family and friends, go thailand roadtrip...haha...ok ok this is secondary. Lose weight...this applies to Ashlynn as well, Lol. Dun miss any cool concerts. Spend less on bike. A much peaceful world, and more blissful enchanted life for all my friends.

A Trip without you

Few days ago, we went for a trip in a very big group.I believed none of us will wish to go. A trip to Ipoh, your hometown, and it was last trip to send you off. All awhile, you had been organizing a trip for us. Unfortunately, due to our busy schedule, we can’t have a chance to go together. I wish it was a happy trip with you acting as a clown in the long journey bus.

On the way down to Ipoh, I was feeling very down and tired. Had been crying the pervious night, but I couldn’t slept. The journey seems to be very long that night. The jokes we used to share, the Fion’s name symphonic we used to perform, the brotherly hug when I was down, the hell week we had been going through, kept appearing in my mind while I was way down to your wake. I wish I could tell you that you are a great manager, friend, and brother to me. I wish I could tease you once again on the Old Man and his Parker Pen and your long winded explanation and my Jelly drink. I think I could only wish.

Although it hard to adapt your absence; I told myself I had to bury my grief and move on while I was on my way back to Singapore. I hope you will cope well of being an angel watching over us.

Tell me this was jus a dream. August 15, 3:15

August 15,

the day started out pretty ok. till i went to the balcony to have
a cigarette. Just then, a friend SMSed me and at that point, i saw
the time, it was 3:15.

When someone broke that tragic news to me, i couldn't say a word.
Its hard to swallow the fact that the person who i just saw the day
before, is now gone.

Usually, every time i walked past the sales room, Astley's place would always
be empty, cos he'd be out in schools. But I had always known that
most of the times, he'd be back in the office by 6+ and both of us would
be at the balcony to enjoy the last stick of the day before i head home.

Now, when I walked past that room, i still see his empty place. But things
are different now. He's never coming back. We never had that last stick
on that day.

Old people and sick people, when they passed, even though its painful,
you have more or less psyched yourself for the worst.

But how was i supposed to be psyched for this?

I couldn't forget that day and I wouldn't forget the memories
that we had. Astley, thank you for the treats, all the rides home
and finally, thank you for giving me the chance to get to know you.
It's been an honour.

Only time could heal this pain that all of us are feeling.

Tell me this was just a dream, August 15, 3:15.

May you rest in peace, my brother.

Re : Picasso - Part 02 (Tutorial)

Here is the step by step guided tutorial to create “Picasso-Look-a-like” masterpieces.

1) Get a normal photograph and import into Adobe Photoshop.

I am just use this basic flower photography as my photograph.

2) Apply artistic effects into you photograph. You can try Filter > Artistic > Cut Out effects.

Over here, I use Cut Out as my prime effects

3) Adjust the Cut Out effects properties accordingly. Try various combination of the setting will give you better result.

4) Once you satisfy about the effects setting, just click OK and generate the effects into your photograph.

Once you apply Cut Out effetcs, you image will be like this.

5) Right now, it the time you try be create your own “Picasso-Look-a-like” masterpieces by using Liquify effects. You can try Filter > Liquify.

Liquify effects is using Mesh properties to distort the pixel in your photograph. It can create brush stroke line within your image.

6) Using Liquify build in tools set (Step 01) and combination the tools set properties (Step 02) to create artistic paintwork.

Combination with various tools set (Step 01) will give you freedom to create difference type of brush stroke line effects.

Combination of the setting will give you better result.

7) Once you finish create the effects in Liquify, just click OK and generate the effects into your photograph.

“Picasso-Look-a-like” Artistic Painting.

8) Next, create one 4R size photoshop document. You can try File > New.
Inside the new document setting, you can choose to create horizontal or vertical orientation of 4R size photoshop document.

Adjust your document setting accordingly.

9) Once the new photoshop document is created, drag your masterpieces into the new photoshop document. (Same as show over here.)

10) Once you position and rescale your masterpieces (by using free transform tool to rescale – Edit > Free Transform), add a layer text and your name into the document.

Finally, you just create the one and only, you own “Picasso-Look-a-like” masterpieces.

When I was young, had been inspired by most of the “Artistic Painter” like…

Willem de Kooning (1904 ~ 1997)

During that time, I just wonder why all those Master had so demiurgic mind set to draw and paint with their art work.

My favorite Master Artist Painter is Pablo Picasso (1881 ~ 1973), who is one of the most recognized artist in 20th century art.

Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain in 1881, he was a Spanish painter and sculptor.

In the age of 9, Picasso has train by his father José Ruiz y Blasco (1838-1913) who also was a Spanish painter and art teacher. Picasso also attended carpenter schools throughout his childhood but he never finished his college-level course of study at the Academy of Arts (Academia de San Fernando) in Madrid.

The most funny part for this Master Artist is… His full name is Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso.

Picasso artwork is often categorized into "periods". While the names of many of his later periods are debated, the most commonly accepted periods in his work are…

This is Picasso highest selling painting. Calling prices tag at USD$111.2 millions.

Picasso's highest selling painting, Garçon à la pipe (Boy with a pipe) was painted during this Rose Period.

The Rose Period signifies the time when the style of Pablo Picasso's painting used cheerful orange and pink colours in contrast to the cool, sombre tones of the previous Blue Period. It lasted from 1905 to 1907. He was happy in his relationship with Fernande Olivier whom he had met in 1904 and this has been suggested as one of the possible reasons he changed his style of painting.

Lately, I was using Picasso unique painting style to teach all my primary school students in their Digital Art courses in infocomm club multimedia training.

Their just using Adobe Photoshop build in plug in (filters) like Liquify, Artistic Cutout, Fresco, Palette Knife, Dry Brush can do the job very well.

Some how, all my kids love to play the Liquify effects when they learn the photoshop skill set. I am also creating small project work for them like create “Picasso-look-a-like” master artwork. I am name the project work as “Picasso Jr.”

First of all, I would like to say Milliions of Thanks to our PET God Father - Uncle Wong for invite me to share some words in the blog..

I didnt realise the presence of Life@ANL Blog at all. Thanks bro for inviting me again yest.. MMM working in ANL has tought me alot of lessons and experiences. Well, no one is perfect in this world rite...My life messed up initially when I was under a person who is paying revenge on me till now.

Luckily our GOD Father has helped me out. Thanks again bro..tanx alot ...You saved my life...

Being a member or PET PET SET SET PET PET SET under our great leader is a real fun. Working late till 2am,3am is something fun eventhough tiring.

I have learnt alot of things from our seniors esp Bro Astley, Felix, Boon and not forgotten the one and only BRo Mahatir...Am lucky to have such a good seniors like u brothers...

As we are a family, we always have fun in the office esp with Astley's jokes...

PET team head count expand very very very BIG !

Bigger then what I expected!!.. >_<

Now, total have 11 persons stay in the team and squeeze ourselves in one small little room.

Not mention share the room with AMT, some how right now got one attachment student join in the room. if everybody come back in to HQ and sit inside the room.

Woo… 17 persons in our room! Just can make you suffer with all those loud noise - “Blah, Blah, Blah…” and “laugh-till-you-drop” lame joke - “Jane? Jean? Huh?... what’s your name again?”.

Traveling from one school to another…

I still remember we have a long chat when we sitting down near Sim Lim Sq, after the super heavy BK dinner. You do ask me before for opinion for you to have another career path. I was never expecting you just tender you resignation so soon. Way before we can spend more time together until end of the year.

For you, I just wish you all the best for your upcoming career path. Enjoy all the moment when you work with your passion.

Yup, would be nice if local companies practice such talent retention. Anyway, it's been out of this world having to spend two years plus of my life with such crazy people i call family each and every day and for that i can't say how grateful i am.

It's moment like when you are stuck outside your own office room because someone farted and stink the entire room....moments like this you will reflect back and remember the faces of the people you shared the laughter with waiting outside for the tornado to pass. *sigh* wonderful`

By the way, thanks to Astley for spraying the insectiside and spilling clorox on the carpet in order to fumigate the situation. Haha. Thanks Felix for accompanying me in finishing the kacangz while waiting for Astley to put out the fire. Err..or maybe smell?! Lol.

Anyway, this coming thursday is movie night again. Please come anyone who has nothing better to do. Oh My God...that's us!!! wahaha.

This Tuesday no soccer tho...cos eve of V day. I think can take a break on that day. Shall continue the street soccer after CNY.

Hi Everyone is ANL,

I am so glad that I got to know and work with all the fantestic people in ANL (frm Managemet, frm Finance&Admin, frm Sales Tm, frm Wizlearn Tm, frm EIT, frm PET, frm SST, frm MDT and all educators).

We work hard, play hard and paint ur life with Colors, that's the way our lives should be. Don't drown urself in work, and miss out all the wonderful people and happenings around. Open up and Color ur life now... That's the way my life runs... Opss... talk too much. heehee!

I wish Nancy all the BEST in her new job with new challenges, and thanks her for inviting me for the gathering. Do keep in touch always....

Nancy's Last Day

:D Promised Joy that I would write a post for her, because in her own words: "I want to be mentioned and remembered by the millions who read it!" :D:D:D Since I am not getting her any Christmas present, so here you go. Millions may not read this, but for all who came, hope you have a great fun remembering what I am about to write.

When: Friday, December 22, 2006. Just around 10 pm +
Where: Ministry of Sound, Singapore
Attendance: Nancy, Joy, Felix, Tze Ming (dude, I hope I spell your name correctly), me (stunned look everyone), Yee May, Wei Lin, Gazzali, Astley, James, Mike Xu, Chris and the Mrs.

For Nancy's last day, I was thinking of a more conservative way of celebrating, a dinner and all. But of course that crazy girl or someone else who anointed himself as chief of midnight entertainment ;) suggested clubbing. We did have the dinner by the way, at vivocity. Anyways, there were people who said they were going and there were people who said they were not going, and we ended up with the group of people that we had.

It was first time experience for some :$ and it was like getting 10 years younger for others :D Drink were served and when we started hitting the dance floor, oh my God is what I can say. We know that Astley is a bit nutty, but to see people like James and Joy being so on, huahahahaha :D:D:D Who knows that James has that crazy side? Maybe this is his suppressed side coming out after the many nights in the office doing OT :D Joy also awed us for being so "on". Though some of us not as professional as Gazzali and Tze Ming for example, but all and all I guess everyone quite enjoyed the night. You really see a different side of people, and get to know what other things they are capable of doing ;) It is truly interesting. I heard because everyone had so much fun, another outing is being planned. I think it would be great and interesting if more people from ANL come and join us. We really do have a crazy, fun, and happening bunch of people here.

I know that Nancy had a great night. I think it's a good way to spend her last day, laughing and dancing, rather than tearing up which she actually did :D Okay, I gotta go, maybe the rest of you want to write your recollection of the night? Rain... Keep on falling down lately.

Remind me i had been gone throught those cold and wet season...
From the bottom of my heart.. even throught out the period of time.

I am not a regular smoker... but i do smoke lately.
Maybe the raining session? or maybe something elsa?

I am not a regular coffee drinker... but i had a cup of white coffee everyday.
Why? I have no idea...

I ask myself why now a day i get addicted with coffee and cigarette lately?
I not use to it for last time, not even single sip or a puff.

But lately... just try to release myself for a moment.

For cigarette, maybe just this period of time...
After all i can stop for never smoking again.. this one for sure i know myself.

For coffee, i don't know...
I never try this one before...

I remember i watch an award winner movie before "Coffee and Cigarettes"...
Directed by Jim Jarmusch, 2003.

Whole movie shoot in black and white,
Yet, only seeing people sitting down in the coffee shop,
having a conversation with each other, a cup of coffee and holding a cigarette in another hand.

Just a daily life what is happening around in the corner. that's all.

This movie is so artistic...

Don't expect have a big action pack or superb story hidden in the script.
Just have an idea what is going on between person to person on the coffee table throught out the conversation and talking.

This movie, it might be very boring to some body...
But for me... those session might be happen to you someday.
you might even never realize it just happen to you.
It just a normal daily life in and out in your day.

Over the time when i write this blog,

This person...
Knowing this person not really preceding in long time, but really can sense having a good friendship between me and himself.

Working with this person for few project before , from small little training, up to high profit margin profile, really enjoy myself to work with him.

This person..

Spending quite number of "extra" over time and work with him until late night in the office...
Having a good time for the late dinner in the meeting room (mostly our favorites Canadian Pizza!)...
And travelling from one school to another school witht he "busy" appointment...
Always can feel this person put more effort and synergy over on his duty.

Friendly speaking... I am really enjoy to hang around with this person !

So Life@ANL, what's happening over here? I guess the headlines these days or perhaps only yesterday (the shock has gone) was people leaving. Not surprising for ANL. People come and go so fast, but it doesn't stop you from feeling sad, right? *sigH* I know the people who are leaving, are a bit sad about leaving too because apparently ANL is full of nice people. That is very true. I've been here longer than all the current contributors of this blog and I do must say that we have a group of crazy, fun, and nice people. As much as this year has been more torturing for me, I do must say that the fun and nice thing all of you have done for me do make me laugh and I'm very thankful for your presence. I guess, we should enjoy each other fully while stock last, haha :D Take care peeps!

Finally the 8th School Video Award is Over !! (Yahoo.... !!)

This year, I support lots of school and ME (Multimedia Educator) for SVA competition. All the ME and students produce very high standard video for the SVA competition.

In my list, I selected some of the teams for write up they production story for my case study. they are Wellington Primary School, CHIJ Toa Payoh (Primary & Secondary) and River Valley Pri School.

For Wellington Primary School, ME (Alan Tan) selected two teams of students for produce one drama and one advertisement video for SVA.

For the drama team, the production team focuses on the story of Say no to pre-marital sex issue. Massage to delivery and educate viewer pay more attention and consequences about pre-marital sex.

Team member - Xiao Ye (Main Actress), Wei Ting, Chee Ting and Douglas Tan

The second team of the Wellington Pri is producing a one minuet of advertisement for the SVA competition. The team focus on the story about don’t not succumb pressure and stress, ask and seek for help from the people who care about you.

Team member - Benet Wong, Su Lan (Main Actress) and Yun Wen.

For CHIJ Toa Payoh Secondary, the team produces one advertisement for this year SVA competition, the story is portrays the social stigma of a HIV-positive man who live within loneliness and helpless. The production team creates mono chromatic screen play to contemplate the fact of the society to the HIV victim.

Team member - Ariele Raki Pathi, Candice Lauren Garcia Balete, Le Ha Thanh Mai, Lee Xin Rong Ann-Marie and Faith Lee (Little Girl - Main Actress).

For River Valley Pri School, ANL ME (Catherine Ong) support this year the school sends in two advertisements for the SVA competition.

“English Drama” promote school english drama club with superb students acting in front of the camera. “Singlish” is the campaign video to promote speak good english video. Special chroma key techniques had been use for produce this promotional video.

A Satisfaction in life...

Working has never been easy... But its always a satifaction...

From a comment a student gives u after u train him/her to the simple thanks someone gives you after ou do smoething...

Its very simple... Just look at work as a challenge, as something to make you learn more, to make you grow and enjoy it... Complaints dont bring u far... Negative thoughts bring u down so why think so much???

Just do your best at everything and end the day smiling knowing you have done your best and love the results...

Coming to the end of the day, ANL people is over worked, hungry and brain dead....
WE need to re-charge.... and here comes the GREAT fight over A cup of nissin noodle (crab favour).

The ideal of the cup competition
start from these 2 brains (Wei Lin and Astley).

Cup competition started with 5 candidates,
(garett, mike, marvin, wei lin and astley).

Marvin is out after the 1st round.
Left 4...

Garett is out after the 2nd round.
Now left 3...

Mike is out leaving Wei Lin and Astley to fight for
the one and only Nissin Cup Noodle..

Finally, the winner goes to Wei lin.

Then she enjoyed the cup noodle and live ever after...

Yoz everyone, i miss everyone in HQ sooo much!

How's everything? *both hands swing up in the air and then hit my lap* (Copy Allen's favourite action and quote) Hahaha!

For me, I am dying here lor... You guys should know i cant sit still one... but over here, everyday i just come in and sit infront of 1 pc and 1 mac. My backside is increasing its size (horizontally).

Haiz.. Think I nv tok much nowsaday or maybe i nv socialize enough with the people here, i think i gonna get depression soon... You guys free come n drop by look for me leh.... (Bring some fresh flower and orange when you come)

Anyway, just to spice things up, let me nag a bit on my missing new specs.
Was on leave the past few days to KL for a 4 days 3 nights trip.
Day 2 i went to Sunway Lagoon. (Yar, i haven't been to this Children's Playground before.) I made this new specs like less then a month ago, to replace my broken one. AND i cannot see without them (ok.. not really cannot see, but blurred vision is uncomfortable), refusing to ditch them in the locker, i wore them along. Each water rides will have all these side boxes which theb life gurad will insist to keep your specs in, so i did just so. So all i enjoyed all the water rides. UNTIL, i took our rented float to drift and relax on the 'man-made' sea section, dozing off and splash, the float overturned me in the water, my specs GONE.

Just like that. Split seconds and it's gone.
I thought the water was still relatively clear and borrowed a pair of goggles to start my search 'mission'. Even the life guard was pulled in to join my 'mission'.
To my surprise, the water is damn chalky! After like 20 mins of search, back and fore, we closed the case. 'mission' failed. Don't know where the hell it 'drowned'.
Spoilt the day man.

And i had to go back to KL City to get a new pair of specs done for 180RM (SGD$90). Relatively cheaper then singapore for next-day express service but my heart bleeds for wasting this kind of money!

Ok ok.. enough nagging about my specs. Now I back to do lotsa Planning for 2007 and some projects. (plus, lotsa part time work to Chiong! spent $$ now need to work for $$)
